Melinda Tobin
Sept. 5, 1943 - Oct. 15, 2010

Melinda Jane (Brown) Tobin, affectionately known as Mindy, our loving, fun, brave mother, sister, grandma, and best friend was mercifully able to take on a new glorious body and go to a peaceful, wonderful place.

Her infectious smile and intelligent yet innocent nature will always be with us to fill us with the strength we all need to survive without her. She will be greatly missed!

Mindy enjoyed her beautiful home and yard, animals, traveling to visit family and just spending time with her childhood, faithful friend Harry Hoeckelberg.

Her family was her life and she spent many happy hours visiting with them. Her faithful, caring Visiting Angel, Lolly, was a godsend to her. Lolly not only cared for Mindy, she provided loving emotional support and was her dear friend.

Mindy enjoyed bicycling with her friend Gwen and together they covered most of the Tri-Cities and surrounding areas. She also loved to golf, shop for the latest fashions, cook healthful foods from her organic garden and read. Mindy was an active and confirmed member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Kennewick and had many wonderful friends there.

Survivors include her three devoted children, Lisa Barrier, of Eldorado Hills, Calif., John Tobin and wife Niki, of Wenatchee; Kristine Tobin and husband Randy of Anchorage, Alaska; two sisters, Salle Ostergaard of Kennewick, Barbara Poe of Richland; grandchildren, Jennifer, Gregory, Amanda, Kyle, Hannah and Bobby. In addition, many nieces and nephews.

Mindy loved her pets, Jack, Meg and Savannah. They helped raise her spirits and give her comfort.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert (Bob)Tobin; her parents, Margaret and Donald Brown.

A graveside memorial will be held at Muellers Desert Lawn at 10 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010. All are welcome. Memorials can be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church or Humane Society, both in Kennewick. Muellers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
