LETTERS TO THE EDITOR - White is right choice for sheriff

I urge all voters in our beautiful Walla Walla Valley to vote for Capt. Bill White for sheriff.

My opinion on this matter is not only based on my knowledge of Capt. White, but on my long-term experience in law enforcement within our community. I proudly served almost 30 years with the Walla Walla Police Department, the last 18 years as a captain, and am now retired.

I not only have a BA degree in law enforcement administration I also am a graduate of the "Law Enforcement Administrative Officer's Course" at the University of Louisville.

I am a lifetime resident of Walla Walla and have owned several businesses here over the years. I do wonder why so many people who don't even live in our area feel they can knowingly offer an opinion on who should be our sheriff.

I do not know Mr. Turner but I see little in his resume that shows me he will be a good fit for the administration of the Walla Walla County Sheriff's Office.

Over the years our Police Department and Sheriff's Office have developed into excellent public service agencies, all by utilizing the talents of the officers who have served us locally during their careers.

If something is not broken, don't fix it! I have knowledge of departments that have brought in outsiders as administrators and suffered years of low morale, dissension and upheaval in their departments.

Please do not let this happen to our fine Sheriff's Office. Vote for Capt. Bill White for our next sheriff.
