WAITSBURG -- Hundreds of high school musicians will converge at Waitsburg High School Wednesday for the fifth consecutive High School MASS Band and Chorus rehearsal and evening concert.
About a dozen high schools from Washtucna to Asotin are preparing the same band and choral pieces in preparation for the performance.
Expert conductors this year are Ron Pasma, a band director for Kennewick Schools, and Julie Jones, choral professor at Walla Walla Community College.
The concert is open to the public, and will include band pieces "Andante and Cantabile" by Beethoven, "Encanto" by Robert Smith, and themes from the movie "Slumdog Millionaire."
The MASS Chorus will perform "Exultate Domino" by Spevacek, "Cross the Wide Missouri" by Besig/Price, and "Medley from 'Joseph & The Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat'" by Webber and Emerson.
The concert is at 6:30 p.m. in the Waitsburg High School Gym. A modest admission will be charged, organizers said.
