Corey J. Reece is accused of breaking windows in a house and vehicles prior to being attacked Sept. 19.

WALLA WALLA -- A man involved in what police said was a gang-related altercation last month has been charged with riot and malicious mischief.

The Walla Walla County Prosecuting Attorney's office filed the charges against Corey J. Reece, 24, of 9231/2 W. Chestnut St., on Wednesday. He is scheduled for a first appearance on Nov. 8 in Walla Walla County Superior Court.

According to charging documents, Reece is accused of breaking windows in a house and in four vehicles in the 900 block of West Birch Street early on the morning of Sept. 19 and using or threatening to use force while armed with a baseball bat.

Reece was assaulted and struck with a baseball bat later that morning, allegedly in retaliation for the earlier damage on Birch Street. Christian J. Ramos, 17, of 930 W. Birch St., has been charged with two counts of second-degree assault in connection with the attack in addition to one count of second-degree malicious mischief. He has pleaded innocent and is scheduled for trial on Oct. 29 in the Juvenile Department of Superior Court.

Police have said the incidents were the result of continuing violence between two local gangs.
