BURBANK - Burbank picked up its first South Central Conference East Division victory with a 64-0 smackdown of winless Mabton Friday night.
Forrest Gordon kicked off the Coyotes' scoring onslaught with a 7-yard run, followed by the first of Douglas Paltanin's eight point-after kicks. Gordon followed that with a 15-yard score before Burbank quarterback Heath Lawrence got into the action, finding Kevin Ireland for a 5-yard TD.
Lawrence then hit Nathan Roberts for a 42-yard strike, followed by a connection with Angel Garcia for a 20-yarder.
Burbank led 35-0 at halftime,
The second half saw the Coyotes' Kamerin Long score on a fumble recovery for a touchdown; the Burbank defense earning a safety; Brandon McBride scoring on an 18-yard run; Long returning a punt for a score; and Forest Dexter running it in from 10 yards out.
Burbank, now 1-4 in SCC East play and 4-4 overall, host Wahluke Friday at 7 p.m.
