WALLA WALLA - Waitsburg-Prescott's soccer team closed out a perfect 16-0 regular season with a 7-2 win over Walla Walla Valley Academy at Walla Walla University Monday.
With the top seed in the upcoming district tournament locked up, W-P was able to compensate for a pair of injured defenders with some new lineups.
"It was a little sloppy at times because we had players out there who weren't used to playing with each other," said W-P assistant coach Bart Baxter. "Still, I am very proud of this team for going 16-0."
W-P got hat tricks from Lino Diaz and Luis Torres, while Omar Virgen chipped in a score. Virgen also had a pair of assists, while Torres, Miguel Velasco, Jose Esquivel and Ceasar Munguia all added a dish each.
For the season, W-P notched 109 goals, while only allowing 14. It won't be until at least Thursday before W-P knows its next opponent, a home playoff match slated for Nov. 4.
