Beulah Ruth Stronczek, 96, passed away on Oct. 21, 2010, in Vancouver, Wash. She was born Feb. 9, 1914, in Des Moines, Iowa to Clifford and Eva (Sherman) Holt. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010, at Smith Lund Mills Funeral Chapel, 123 S 7th St., Cottage Grove, Ore. Burial service will follow at Comstock Cemetery, Curtin, Ore. Memorial contributions may be made to Holt International, Eugene, Ore. thru the funeral home.

Beulah was a licensed practical nurse for 10 years. She dedicated her sewing, knitting and quilting skills to make items for Holt International orphans around the world. She was often recognized by Holt International Children's Services for her contributions to meet the needs of homeless children throughout the world. She received the distinguished "Bertha Holt" Award in 2005.

She married Joseph Stronczek on June 7, 1941. She grew up and attended school in Des Moines, Iowa.
Survivors include daughter, Esther Onishi and husband, Yasuo of Richland; son, Robert Stronczek and wife, Sally of Vancouver; grandchildren, Mathew and wife Carin, Mark, Paul, Anna and Lisa; great-grandchildren, Lucas and Bella. Preceded in death by husband, Joseph J. Stronczek.
