Longtime Walla Walla resident, Virginia R. Terry, 89, died October 22, 2010, at Washington Odd Fellows Home.
The funeral service will be 1:30 p.m., Friday, October 29, 2010, at Mountain View-Colonial DeWitt, 1551 Dalles Military Road, Walla Walla, Washington. Gary Benefiel of the Christ Community Fellowship will officiate. The graveside service and burial will follow on Friday at Blue Mountain Memorial Gardens, Myra Road, College Place, Washington. There will be a reception at the cemetery fol- lowing the graveside service. Memorial contributions may be made to any charity of donor's choice through the fu- neral home.
Virginia was born November 2, 1920, in Spokane, Washington, to Frank and Kate Thoburn Baumgartner. She graduated from Rogers High School and attended Kinman Business College, both in Spokane. On September 20, 1946, she and Walter Terry married in Spokane.
The couple moved to this area in 1947. She had worked for Cox-Jones Insurance and later Dale Snider Real Estate in Walla Walla.
She enjoyed cooking, crochet, gardening and reading. She enjoyed playing board and card games including Pinochle. In addition, she liked picnicking and boating at the Snake River with friends and family. As a member of White Temple Baptist Church, she was the church treasurer for many years and member of the Ella Hungate Circle group helping worthy causes. She was currently a member of Christ Community Fellowship.
Virginia is survived by her sons: Dale and his wife Angela Terry of Lake Forest Park, Washington and Walter Terry of Cheney, Washington; her sister, Helen Richards of Walnut Creek, California; three grandchildren: Colleen Terry, Shannon Terry and Justin Terry; and one great-grandson, Brycen Mock. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1994; two brothers and one sister.
