WALLA WALLA -- The third and final board member of the Walla Walla Joint Community Development Agency was unanimously approved by the City Council at its Wednesday meeting with member Fred Mitchell absent.
City resident Bill Clemens, a Pacific Power official, was approved by county commissioners earlier this week. And the Wednesday night approval by City Council made him an official board member, who will serve with fellow board members Jim Barrow and Greg Tompkins.
Beginning Jan. 1, the new joint agency will operate the city and county's merged planning departments. But before that happens, the board will need to determine which employees it will keep and which it will lay off, along with other administrative changes.
The merger is expected to include layoffs of six full-time employees from the city and/or county planning staff.
