Amy Johnson Shoop passed away at the Washington Odd Fellows Home in Walla Walla, on Oct. 28, 2010. At her request, no services will be held.
Amy was born June 2, 1917, in Klamath Falls, Ore., to Jess and Ada Semon Johnson. She was educated at the Henley Schools and furthered her education at the University of Oregon with a BS degree in nursing education.
She married Hymen H. Shoop on Jan. 17, 1942, in Portland. Pendleton was their home for a time and then they moved to Walla Walla for the remainder of their lives.
Amy was a public school nurse and finished her career with the Walla Walla School District. She was a member of the Alki Chapter No. 25 Order of the Eastern Star, Walla Walla and Elk Karnak No. 6 Daughters of The Nile, Spokane.
Amy and Hy truly enjoyed their dogs over the years and sailing on the Columbia River. After Hy's passing, Amy participated in many Elderhostel trips and thoroughly enjoyed taking Quest classes at Walla Walla Community College.
Amy was preceded in death by her husband, Hy; a sister, Jessie Colton of Portland; and her cousin, Gretchen Thompson of Klamath Falls, Ore. She is survived by a cousin, Charley Thompson of Klamath Falls.
