MOSES LAKE - Wa-Hi saw its 2010 volleyball season come to an end Saturday in the Big Nine District tournament at Art Dawald Gym.
The Blue Devils, who kept their season alive with a win at Chiawana Thursday, opened Saturday action with a three-game loss to eventual tournament champion Richland, 25-20, 25-13, 25-10, then suffered a four-game elimination loss to Moses Lake, 25-16, 25-23, 18-25, 25-19.
Sydney Christensen led Wa-Hi against Richland with six kills, and followed it up with 10 kills, three digs and an equal number of blocks in the Moses Lake match.
"She is such a reliable kid," Wa-Hi coach Audra Cummings said. "She had a great tour and a fabulous season."
Torri Crawford (nine), Stephanie Wilson (nine), and Chantelle Zamora (seven) combined for 25 kills on the day for the Blue Devils. Lexie Mahan had four kills in the Richland contest.
Megan Thompson had six digs against Moses Lake. Megan Gregg added three kills, five digs and a block, Devyn Humphreys had six kills and a block, and Franny Eacker-Rude set 28 assists.
"Megan stepped it up (at the libero position)," Cummings said. "She did a really god job. She is a good communicator on the court. Gregg stepped in and had a good game against Moses.
"On Thursday, the girls played great," Cummings said. "Our game one against Richland was great. They're ranked No. 1 in the state and we hung with them. We missed a few opportunities throughout.
We struggled to find a consistent lineup," Cummings said. "We did some good things, but didn't play up to our potential."
The Blue Devils ended the year with a 6-9 record.
