30th annual Mary Stewart

Craft Show to be Nov. 12-13

MILTON-FREEWATER - The 30th annual Mary Stewart Craft show will be 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Nov. 12-13 at the Milton-Freewater Community Building.

About 35 vendors are expected, said Pam Wildhman.

There are only homemade and handmade items for sale, in addition to lunch for a price.

AARP driver safety

refresher courses offered

AARP driver safety classes are scheduled through the end of the year.

Participants can improve their driving skills by taking a refresher course.

For AARP members the class fee is $12, or $14 for non members.

A discount on car insurance may be applicable for those who are 55 and older who have completed the class.

Classes will be:

Nov. 17: 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m., Sonbridge Community Center, 1200 S.E. 12th St., College Place. Call 509-529-3100 Tuesdays through Thursdays to register. There will be a half hour lunch break, bring a sack lunch.

Nov. 20: 8 a.m.-5 p.m., The Center at the Park, 720 Sprague Ave. Call 509-527-3775 to register. There will be an hour lunch break, but the cafeteria is closed on Saturdays so participants are encouraged to bring lunch.

Dec. 6: 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., The Center at the Park, 720 Sprague Ave. Call 509-527-3775.

Dec. 8-9: 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Burbank Community Library, 875 Lake Road, Burbank.

Workshop to cover Medicare Advantage, Part D pharmacy plans

A Medicare workshop sponsored by SHIBA and the Washington State Office of the Insurance Commissioner. The presentation covers available Medicare Advantage plans as well as Part D pharmacy plans for the Walla Walla area. November 19, 1:30 p.m. at the Center at the Park, 720 Sprague Ave. Call 509-527-3775.

Retired Senior Volunteer Program seeks board members

RSVP is interested in board recruitment. Professionals in a variety of fields are encouraged to participate. RSVP also offers volunteer opportunities: The Sustainable Living Center, Community Energy Educators (two hours, evenings.) Help the community save energy and money. Inform people about rebates and financial incentives for conservation measures.

Photographers. Living Green in the Blues needs experienced photographers to help with the 2011 edition.

Builders Re-Supply (two-four hours per week.) Volunteer to help with the store, run cash register, clean donated items and post items on Craigslist. Help divert waste from the landfill through resale.

Project Impact! Walla Walla Community College Women's Center, looking for volunteer coordinators with enthusiasm, experience with Microsoft Office, marketing and public relations skills to help with two upcoming projects. These are for the Art Share and Sell Art Show this winter and the Women's Wellness Event in the spring.
