Weston-McEwen's Christopher fifth at District 5 XC meet

PENDLETON - Weston-McEwen's Jacob Christopher finished fifth in the boys 5,000 meter race here Friday afternoon during the Oregon District 5 Cross Country championships at McKay Park.

Christopher had his best run of the season, according to W-M coach Kara Scott, with a time of 17:17.27.

"He is now qualified for the state competition next Saturday at Lane Community College in Eugene," Scott said.

The TigerScots' Daniel Winn had a time of 20:10.63 and finished 39th.

In the girls 5,000 meter race, a trio of Weston-McEwen runners cracked the top 45. Danielle Hinchliff had a time of 25:00.46 and finished 34th, Melissa Huskey posted a 27:33.88 and placed 41th, and Lizzy Huskey completed the course in 28:54.24, good for 44th.

"All of the girls have improved over the season and ran their best times in the course," Scott said.
