Milton-Freewater police issue alert on suspicious vehicle

Officials say a child reported having been offered a ride by adults unknown to her.

Milton-Freewater police are asking residents to be on the lookout for a suspicious vehicle.

Officers received a report Tuesday that occupants of a fairly recent model red minivan approached a female student and offered a ride. The student told school officials she did not know the occupants.

At this point, police aren't alleging a crime has taken place. But they hope to locate the vehicle and occupants to find out more information.

Few details about the incident were available this morning. Milton-Freewater City Manager Linda Hall, acting as a spokesperson for the police department, said officials want to err on the side of caution.

A safety alert was sent to Milton-Freewater School District children Tuesday. According to the notice, the exact make and model of the van were unknown. The vehicle was reportedly occupied by an older white male with gray hair and mustache and an older female.

Anyone with information is asked to call the police at 541-938-5511.
