KIRKLAND, Wash. - A trip west didn't give Walla Walla University's men's soccer team the result it sought Thursday.
The Wolves lost to Northwest University, 5-1, in the non-conference match.
The Eagles scored first off a Luke Fischer shot five minutes into the game. They next benefited from a Wolves error, as a shot off Northwest University's Drew Jensen deflected off a WWU player and into the Wolves' own goal for the Eagles' second goal.
Three more goals helped the Eagles lead, 5-0, at halftime.
Kevin Nateras put the Wolves on the board at 56 minutes in, with a shot from 15 yards out.
The Wolves made 10 shots on goal to NU's 24. Walla Walla goalkeeper Jon McLane saved six Eagles shots.
The teams meet again at 3 p.m. today.
