HERMISTON - Weston-MeEwen kicked off its pre-league season with a solid showing at the Hermiston Volleyball tournament, taking second place in the consolation bracket in Oregon.
In pool play, the TigerScots fell to Burns 25-20, 25-19, split with Grant 14-25, 25-13 and split with Pendleton 25-20, 25-27.
In the consolation bracket Weston-McEwen defeated LaGrande 20-25, 25-19, 15-12 before falling to Baker 25-16, 25-23.
For the tournament the TigerScots received several strong performances, including 29 assists and five kills from Morgan Entve, 30 assists from her fellow setter Jordan Reger, a team-high 27 kills from Tiffany Cain and 45 digs and 11 aces from Renee Bauman.
Jamie Zimmerman also contributed a 22-for-24 serving day with five aces and Haley Freske knocked home 14 kills and five aces.
The TigerScots next take the court Tuesday at DeSales.
Walla Walla also attended the tournament, earning a third place finish after falling to Grant of Portland in the three sets in the winners bracket.
"We had a lot of good moments today," said Wa-Hi head coach Audra Cummings. "I was pleased with how we played, and it was a good start to the season for us."
Sydney Christiansen and Tianna Cummings both made the all-tournament team.
