Carol was born Dec. 28, 1935, in Wakefield, Neb., to Chester and Fern Benton. She was the oldest of five children. She attended area schools in Allen, Neb., and graduated at the top of her class in 1954.
She moved west in the early 1960s. While working at a radio station, she met and then married Pete "Pecos Pete" Brown in Nampa, Idaho, on June 21, 1963. Later they moved with their family to the Pendleton area to run and later own KTIX radio station. Then moving to the Milton-Freewater area in the late 1960s. She was a devoted and supportive wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and
employee at many local businesses, such as Key Electronics, owned Four Season Fashions on Main Street, helped run Center for Sharing, local radio stations and finally operated a Washington State Payee Service before semi-retiring last year. She was always helping a good cause and really enjoyed the Red Hat Society. She was even the queen. Carol was often mentioned as "quite a woman." She helped and was
loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
