Darlene Asleson De Grandmont
February 24, 1932 -- September 4, 2010
Darlene Asleson De Grandmont died the
evening of Saturday, September 4, 2010 at her
Walla Walla home. She was 78.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will
be held at 11:00 am Monday, September 13,
2010, at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin
Mary Catholic Church, 2098 E. Alder Street in
Walla Walla, with the Rev. Tim Hays as Celebrant.
Memorial contributions may be made to the
American Leukemia Association through Mountain View-Colonial De-
Witt, 1551 Dalles Military Road, Walla Walla, WA 99362.
Darlene Yvonne was born February 24, 1932, to Arne and Mabel
Lucke Asleson in Niagara, North Dakota. She moved with her family to
Walla Walla in the early 1940s, where she graduated in 1950 from Walla
Walla High School. Darlene met Don L. De Grandmont; they were married
January 27, 1952 in Walla Walla, where they raised their two boys,
Ken and Keith. Beginning in 1977, Don and Darlene moved several
times throughout the states as Don was transferred; they retired to Walla
Walla in 2006.
Darlene was a member of the Assumption Catholic Church; a 55-
year member of the Auxiliary of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and was
a past president of the Walla Walla Area #26; and was a life member and
trustee of the Ladies Auxiliary #992 to the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Over the years, she enjoyed taking care of the family dogs and other
pets; bowling; serving on the Eagle’s drill team; and watching her sons’
Survivors include her husband Don, at the home; sons Ken De
Grandmont of Sparks, Nevada, and Keith De Grandmont of Portland,
Oregon; and grandchildren Christian, Angelique, Donald, Lauren, Kristin,
and Brian. She was preceded in death by her parents and older brother,
Le Roy Asleson.
