ATHENA -- Weston-McEwen's volleyball team picked up a pair of victories in Athena Thursday to run its record to 4-1 on the season, defeating Riverside and Helix in straight sets.
The TigerScots opened the evening with 25-18, 25-19, 25-17 romp over Riverside.
"I thought we were relatively consistent," said Weston-McEwen head coach Shawn White. "We worked hard on not giving up runs."
Weston-McEwen followed up its first win with a 25-12, 25-12, 25-8 victory over Helix. The TigerScots were led by 19 assists and 5 kills from Morgan Entze, 13 assists and a perfect serving night from Jordan Reger and 17 kills and nine digs Tiffany Cain.
Renee Baumann also had a perfect service double header with 16 aces, while Jaymie Zimmerman added five aces and Haley Freske posted six kills.
The TigerScots take the court again tonight in a tournament in Yakima.
DeSales takes first victory against Tri-Cities Prep
RICHLAND -- DeSales scored its first victory of the season on the road against Tri-Cities Prep Thursday, 25-14, 25-14, 21-25, 25-15.
The Irish are 1-1.
Senior Megan Moberg and junior Annie Higgins both notched seven kills, while Abby Larreau led the Irish with eight finishing blows.
"We dominated the first two sets, but we lost a little focus in the third," said DeSales head coach Lori Blanc. "We regained our momentum though and finished it out.
Alex Buley had a 22-for-23 service performance with eight aces, while Chantel Blanc went 23-for-23 with 22 assists.
DeSales next scheduled contests are at a tournament at Walla Walla Community College this weekend.
