BOARDMAN, Ore. - Mac-Hi's volleyball squad finished third in round robin play and then lost to Elgin in pool play at the Riverside Tournament Saturday.
The Pioneers split with Imbler, 13-20 and 20-19; lost to Riverside, 14-20 and 13-20; and beat Stanfield, 20-14 and 20-16 to take third into pool play. Mac-Hi then lost to Elgin, 25-14 and 25-17.
"The girls seemed pretty confident in their first and third matches, but seemed a bit timid against Riverside," Mac-Hi coach Kaila Rodighiero said. "Riverside was a good team, really disciplined, they moved to the ball well and had a lot of height.
"It was a long day with a lot of volleyball," she said. "The girls seemed tired, and I don't blame them. But they battled, and something I can say about my girls is that they know how to scrap. They can make a play look good from any crazy ball or pass.
"This tournament was good for us," Rodighiero continued. "We now have a week and a half before league to work on the things we need to improve to be even better."
