WALLA WALLA - Sophomore Mikey Ramos scored twice in a brief second-half stretch of play Saturday afternoon to lift Walla Walla Community College to a 3-2 victory over Whatcom in an NWAACC men's soccer match at Warrior Field.
Walla Walla upped its season record to 4-1.
Marco Acevedo put the Warriors on top in the 10th minute with a goal off an assist by Talon Wyatt.
The Orcas responded with an equalizer and a go-ahead goal. Nino Tursic evened the match at 1-1 with a header in the 20th minute, and Greg Millik gave Whatcom the lead at the 39-minute mark.
A Mikey-to-Mikey combination brought the Warriors back to even terms in the 81st minute. Ramos teamed up with Luhrs on a give-and-go at the top of the 18-yard box and finished it off with a rocket shot that rattled the top shelf of the Orcas' goal.
A minute later, the Warriors' Paul Herrera was knocked down in the goalie box by Whatcom keeper Kyle Keller, resulting in a penalty kick. Ramos banged it home for the game-winning marker.
The Warriors travel to the Seattle area next weekend for a pair of league counters, at Shoreline Friday and Everett on Saturday.
