Cleo Kemp Feb. 23, 1923 - Sept. 11, 2010 Cleo A. Kemp, 20 S.E. Larch, College Place, formerly of Milton-Freewater, passed away Sept. 11, 2010, at the Eagle Springs Specialty Care Community in College Place at the age of 87 years. Graveside services will be Friday, Sept. 17, 2010, at 2 p.m. at the Milton-Freewater Cemetery with Pastor Duane Geyer officiating, followed by a celebration of life at the Ezell home, 115 Commercial St., Adams, Ore. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Research through the Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home, 902 S. Main, Milton-Freewater, OR 97862. Mrs. Kemp was born Feb. 23, 1923, in Georgetown, Texas, the daughter of Leve and Clara Akers McPherson. She was raised in Texas until moving to Oregon after her marriage to Lt. Romie Kemp on Jan. 1, 1943, in Temple, Texas. Mrs. Kemp was a beloved housewife and nurturing mother who brought more than one child into her home and helped raise as her own. She and her husband owned the M-F Supper Club in Milton-Freewater for a number of years and also Kemp Construction. She loved to smile, dance and listen to music. She was very involved in the Milton-Freewater Pea Festival, the Democratic Ladies Club, church projects and enjoyed playing softball in her younger years. She and her sister, Janie Watrin, opened a reused clothing store in Milton-Freewater and ran it for many years. She was a member of the Valley Christian Center. Mrs. Kemp was preceded in death by her husband on February 13, 1982. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Bill Ezell of Adams, Ore.; a brother, Leve McPherson of Pendleton, Ore.; two sisters, Mary Nicholson of Waco, Texas, Debbie Sears of Milton-Freewater; a grandson Justin Ezell, of Pendleton; a granddaughter, Sarah Standley of Bellevue, Wash.; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
