Members of the American Association of University Women Walla Walla Branch will host their annual membership reception from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Le Chateau Winery, 175 E. Aeronca Ave. (in the building painted like a French Chateau at the airport).

Their intention is to promote and gain new memberships while strengthening current memberships, said member Kathy Foster, via e-mail.

The local branch annually holds a huge book sale in spring, as well as the Kitchen Tour, which will be Oct. 3 this year.

The $20 tickets are available at Earthlight Books, Romanza, Bright's Candies, Real Deals, Book & Game, WallaFaces and By Arrangement.

Proceeds generated by these fundraisers benefit local educational events and scholarships for women and girls.

The reception will give attendees the opportunity to find out just who AAUW members are, Kathy said.

"Come learn about AAUW community education/service events, member interest groups, scholarship programs, political action, member education events, meet other amazing women and, make some new friends," she said.

"By joining AAUW, you belong to a community that breaks through education and economic barriers so that all women have a fair chance.

Refreshments will be served.

AAUW is also sponsoring a non-partisan, two-hour Candidates Forum at 7 p.m. Oct. 4 at Walla Walla Community College Conference Center, Room 185, 500 Tausick Way.
