YAKIMA -- Walla Walla Community College fell to 0-2 in league play with a narrow loss to Yakima 25-20, 20-25, 25-18, 23-25, 15-9 on the road.
Nikki Long led the way for WWCC with 18 kills and 15 digs, while Brittany Dominguez added 14 kills and Sharsti Goff 29 had assists.
"As you can see from the stats, we posted some decent numbers. The bottom line was that Yakima was better prepared than we were," said WWCC head coach Tim Toon. "The quality play from last weekend in a Spokane Tournament did not translate to great volleyball tonight. We were never able to get into a good rhythm. Our errors combined with a motivated and talented Yakima team set us up for failure."
Kayla Hanus added 16 assists and 3 aces, and Carley Miller had 22 digs.
"We have no choice but to pick up the pieces and work harder. At our Crossover this weekend, we'll attempt to string quality points, games and matches together," Toon said. "Next weeks' conference matches against Wenatchee and Blue Mountain are huge. We have to figure out a way to get back in the East Region race."
