Stanley Keith Hazen went to sleep in Jesus on Sunday, Sept. 12, 2010. We will miss him greatly, but we know he is now at peace.
Stan was born Oct. 6, 1951, in Yakima, to Harold and Irene Hazen. He grew up on the Hazen farm in Tampico, originally homesteaded by his grandparents, Thomas and Alta Hazen. Stan attended the Ahtanum Grade School and West Valley High School, graduating in 1970.
Stan majored in theology at Walla Walla University, graduating in 1975. He then attended Andrews University, and afterward returned home to College Place to care for his parents and attend nursing school at Walla Walla Community College. Stan worked for about 23 years as an LPN at the Washington Odd Fellows Home in Walla Walla.
Stan was a long time member of the Village Seventh-day Adventist Church, where he taught an adult Sabbath School class and served as an elder. Stan was an avid reader, a historian and a John Deere enthusiast.
The memorial service for Stan will be at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010, at the College Place Village Seventh-day Adventist Church, 715 SE 12th Street, College Place, 525-0882.
Stan is survived by his wife of ten years, Kathy, of College Place; sister, Jani Hazen (Richard Koenig) of Gresham, Ore.; brother, Bruce Hazen of West Linn, Ore.; sisters-in-law, Carol Parshall (Jack), Linda Torretta (Ray), Margie Torretta (Jeff) and Sandy Kinsfather (Russell); mother-in-law, Lyla Wolcott; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Joe.
