Vergie M. Broadfoot, 96 died Sept. 14, 2010, in Walla Walla. Funeral services will be held Sunday, Sept. 19, 2010, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home, 902 S. Main St., Milton-Freewater. Contributions can be made to the Blue Mountain Television through the funeral home. Interment to follow in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in College Place. Visitation hours will be held Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010, from 6-9 p.m.
One of 11 children, Vergie was born May 19, 1914 in Eminence, Mo. She was the daughter of James and Nettle Tucker Bunch. She attended and taught at local schools in Shannon County, Mo.
On June 18, 1938, in Salem, Mo., she married Lindell L. Broadfoot. The couple owned and operated a farm in Shannon County, Mo. for a few years before moving to Heppner, Ore., in 1947. Mr. Broadfoot followed the timber business and they lived in various locations including Monument, Ore. before settling in Milton-Freewater in 1980. After their retirement they enjoyed traveling and going back to Missouri every year to visit. Lindell passed away on July 30, 1992. She was a dedicated wife, mother and homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, baking and volunteering for church projects. She was a member of the Milton Seventh-day Adventist Church.
She is survived by her five daughters, Linda (Vern) Walcker and Donna (Rual) Brown, both of Milton-Freewater, Judy (James) Lamberton of Brewster, Wash., and Joan Broadfoot of Ashland, Ore., and Mary Ann Warnock of Kennewick; brother, Luke Bunch of Douglasville, Ga.; 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Ron Broadfoot.
