William L. "Bill" Hahn, 12 S.W. First Ave., Milton-Freewater, passed away Sept. 11, 2010, at Providence St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla, at the age of 57 years. Funeral services will be Monday, Sept. 20, 2010, at 1 p.m. at Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home Chapel in Milton-Freewater, with Pastor Dan Willms of the Vineyard Free Methodist Church in Walla Walla officiating. Concluding services and interment will be in the Milton-Freewater Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Providence St. Mary Regional Cancer Center Special Needs through the funeral home.
Bill was born Feb. 18, 1953, in Walla Walla, the son of Curtis C. and Wanda P. Shelley Hahn. He was raised in Milton-Freewater and attended local schools. He later moved to Montesano, Wash., where he graduated from Montesano High School. He worked for James Lewis Construction in Kelso, Wash., and later got his degree in steel fabrication from McMinnville Community College. Bill had worked for many years at McMinnville Cascade Steel Mill. He returned to Milton-Freewater 17 years ago. He was a sponsor of the Walla Walla Balloon Stampede and Wings Over Walla Walla and helped out with many of the local events. Bill loved horses, fishing and hunting. He was a member of the Vineyard Free Methodist Church. He had lived by and cared for his mother for the past five years.
Bill is survived by his mother and stepfather, Wanda and Vernon Hamblen of Milton-Freewater; seven sisters, Cora Novakovich and Ronda Brashear, both of Walla Walla, Kim McCarthy of Los Angeles,Debra Tiner of Dixie, Tammie Korst of Waitsburg and Tracy McCarthy and Jeri Bier, both Milton-Freewater; five brothers, Victor Hahn and Mike Baulig, both of Seattle, Dan Baulig of Vancouver, Vern Hamblen Jr., of Milton-Freewater and Matt Baulig of Hermiston; his guardian angel and best friend, LaVar Wineberger of Milton-Freewater; and numerous nieces and nephews.
