Oregon SOLV Beach and Riverside Cleanup seeks volunteers to clean waterways


MILTON-FREEWATER - Volunteers are being sought to help clean up local waterways Saturday.

The project will be part of the Oregon SOLV Beach and Riverside Cleanup held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., said Bob Chicken of the Walla Walla Basin Watershed Council.

"We need 10 volunteers locally to join in this statewide effort to clean up the graffiti on waterway structures and the large amount of trash that flows to the ocean from inland waterways, streets and storm drains," Chicken said in a release.

Volunteers can sign up online at www.solv.org or call 503-844-9571. Particiants should dress for the weather, bring a reusable container for drinking waterand paint roller and pan if possible.
