Helix picks up first match win against Sherman County

WASCO - Helix picked up its first win of the season after dropping two of three pool games by defeating Sherman County at the South Wasco tournament Saturday.

The Grizzlies struggled in their morning pool matches, falling 15-13, 10-15, 15-7 to Condon-Wheeler and 16-14, 15-9 to Klickitat before rallying to defeat Arlington 13-15, 15-9, 15-12, which set up the match against Sherman County.

The Grizzlies took the match 3-2 (23-25, 26-24, 20-25, 25-23, 15-8), in large part due to Chyanne Hack and Niccy Thompson, who finished the tournament with 31 and 20 kills respectively. Thompson also went 51-for-53 serving on the day and Claire Ely was 43-for-45.

Helix is now 1-6 on the year and next take the court at Echo on Tuesday.
