PORTLAND - Wa-Hi's Rachel Nelson placed second in the Division 1 varsity girls 5K in the Nike Pre-Nationals cross country meet Saturday.
Nelson finished in 19:25.35, 13 second behind first-place finisher Rachel Atwood, from Auburn-Riverside and in a field of 163 girls.
Aaron Nelson placed fourth of 207 runners in the Jim Danner Champs boys 5K, finishing in 15:29.41.
J.P Wolpert finished 16th in 16:01.65 and Austin Morgan finished 42nd in 16:29.16.
Sean Hollenbe finished the race in 17:50.10, Greggory Heller in 17:53.12 and Zachariah Lapier rounded out the Wa-Hi boys in 17:58.07
In the girls' 5K, Wa-Hi's Hannah Hampson finished in 21:56.69, McKelle Willwand finished tin 22:32.95, Jocelyn Vargas in 22:41.7, Catherine Feistner in 23:01.74 and Ashley Taylor in 24:59.2.
Athletes from 110 high schools in seven states and British Columbia competed in the meet.
