Groundbreaking planned in Pomeroy for wind project

POMEROY _ A groundbreaking ceremony to mark the start of construction on Phase I of Puget Sound Energy's Lower Snake River Wind Project is set for 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the Garfield County Fairgrounds.

The festivities include a barbecue luncheon served at 11:30 a.m., followed by remarks by speakers at 12:30 p.m. The Pomeroy High School pep band will open the event. Windsocks decorated by the Pomeroy fourth and fifth grade classes will be on display.

Speakers include PSE Pomeroy office manager Jay Takemura, Garfield County commissioner Dean Burton, Pomeroy mayor Alan Gould, and PSE President Kimberly Harris.
