Louise Bradberry McDowell
August 6, 1925-September 7, 2010

Long time Walla Walla resident, Louise Bradberry McDowell, 85, lost her
battle with cancer at her daughter's home in Springville, UT. Sept 7, 2010. She was
born August 6, 1925 to Fredrick Walter and Opal Olive (Simmons) Bradberry
in San Augustine, Texas. She grew up with her family on her
grandfather's farm near San Augustine. She graduated from Woden
High School, Nacogdoches County, Texas in 1943. She attended Steven
F. Austin College. She was in training for the Nurse Army Cadet Corp. during WWII.

She met Estell (Mac) Ross McDowell while he was an MP guarding
German POWs in Texas. They were married May 12, 1945.
They were sealed for eternity in the LDS temple in Provo, UT.
Sept.2,1977. They were married for 65 years.

Louise was a member of the Women's Auxiliary of Postal Clerks.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She served in various callings at church including nursery leader for
many years. She loved watching sports and attended her sons' Little
Pony League ball games and basketball games. She was an avid
reader. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and crocheting projects, making
quilts for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as long as
she was able. She was a loving and caring person who was always
willing to serve her church and others. She was a great cook and fed
the young missionaries from her church for many years. She was
the neighborhood "mother", for relatives, missionaries, local college
students and anyone who needed a "Mom".

She raised 6 successful children. She was a supportive mother
and accepted and encouraged the choices her children made in life.
She has excelled under difficult circumstances and has endured
despite extremely difficult medical conditions. She will be greatly

She is survived by her husband, Estell McDowell. 4 sons: Theodore
of San Bernardino, CA. (2 step- children, 3 grandchildren);
John (Linda) of Broomfield, CO. (4 children, 9 grandchildren);
James (Paula) of Gilbert, AZ. (5 sons, 1 step-son,1 step-daughter, 10
grandchildren) and Robert (Amy) of Richland, WA. (2 sons; 2 stepchildren).
2 daughters: Lyndia (D. Robert) Carter of Springville,
UT. (4 children; 15 grandchildren) and Peggy (James) Bell of Walla
Walla, WA.(3 children):2 sisters; Christine Seago of Corrigan, TX.
and Iris (Jack) Blankfeld of Indian Wells, CA. She was preceded in
death by her parents, her only brother, Fredrick Earl and infant sister,
Peggie Merle.

Burial was September 17, 2010 in the Saunders family cemetery near Denning, San Augustine County, Texas.
A memorial will be held Saturday October 2, 2010 at 11:30 in
the multipurpose room of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints at 1821 South 2nd Ave. Walla Walla, Washington.
