PREP VOLLEYBALL — Waitsburg-Prescott splits a pair

WAITSBURG - Waitsburg-Prescott's volleyball team split a pair of games this week, beating Tri-Cities Prep on Tuesday before falling to Liberty Christian Wednesday.

On the road versus Tri-Cities Prep, W-P scored a straight set victory 25-21, 25-17, 25-15 behind nine kills from Ronnie Hulce and Genesis Pearson. Megan Withers added four kills and Kayla Huxoll contributed 19 assists.

"We had control of the game all night," said W-P head coach Jessie Buehler. "Overall, I was very pleased with our performance on that night."

The following night was not as kind to Waitsburg-Prescott as the team fell 26-24, 25-23, 25-10 to Liberty Christian.

"I thought we were prepared for the game," Buehler said. "We had to play from behind all night, and we got in a big hole in the second set, and we just couldn't get into the third set. It seemed like we just couldn't hit the ball hard enough."

Hulce and Withers both had five kills in the game and Huxoll notched 13 assists, while Pearson had 10 digs and a perfect service night.

The loss drops W-P to 2-4 in league play, heading into a Tuesday match at Dayton.
