Alvin "Al" J. Wahl
November 23, 1919 - March 30, 2011

Longtime Walla Walla resident, Alvin John Wahl, 91,
died March 30, 2011, at Walla Walla General Hospital.
At his request, there will be no service. Memorial
contributions may be made to Walla Walla Community
Hospice through Mountain View-Colonial DeWitt, 1551
Dalles Military Road, Walla Walla, Washington 99362.

Al was born November 23, 1919, in Lorain Township,
Wisconsin, to Max and Lillian Glassel Wahl. His parents
had four boys and named them all for the initials in the
family name: Wilfred, Alvin, Henry and Leonard ~
WAHL. Coincidentally, they married wives with the
names Lenore, Olive, Violet and Esther, spelling the word
LOVE.

He graduated from Cumberland High School,
Cumberland, Wisconsin. He moved to this area over 70
years ago. An avid member of the Teamsters Union, he
drove truck for Consolidated Freightways for 35 years,
retiring in 1982. In 1981, he and Olive Stump were married.
She passed away just last week on March 24, 2011.
Al loved tractors and farm equipment, working with
old iron and rebuilding lawnmowers. He was a member
of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, serving as president for
some time.

Survivors include his daughter and her husband, Alice
and Kemble Tellefson of Milton-Freewater, Oregon; his
two sons: Robert Wahl of Fossil, Oregon and Stephen and
his wife Judy Wahl of Vancouver, Washington; his brother,
Henry Wahl of Minnesota; four grandchildren; ten greatgrandchildren
and numerous nieces and nephews. He
was preceded in death by two brothers: Wilfred Wahl and
Leonard Wahl.
