March 11, 1940 - March 23, 2011
Betty Jean Nettles, age 71, died March 23, 2011, at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane. Private services for the family are being planned. Those who wish, may contribute to the Dayton Senior Center or the charity of the donor's choice through Hubbard-Rogg Funeral Home 111 S. 2nd St. Dayton, WA 99328.
Our mother, Betty was born on March 11, 1940, in Ventura, Calif. Her parents, Arthur "Monty" and Juanita Blevens moved to Columbia County in the 1940's where they opened and operated "Monty's Caf" on the Tucannon River. She attended Dayton High School and graduated in 1958.
In the years to follow, Betty met and married Don Nettles in 1960. By the summer of 1964 they had three boys, Jess, Jeff, and Jerry. Together, Betty and Don purchased their first home, began a family business, and raised their three children. Both Betty and Don focused their energies on family. After raising her boys, Betty spent her later years relishing the roll of Grandma, lavishing her love and affection on her six grandchildren. Christmas and holidays were special times where Betty created wonderful, lifelong memories.
Before Betty's passing, her husband, Don was diagnosed with cancer. Betty supported Don through it all. The two worked hand in hand for two years before Donald lost the battle in August of 2010.
Betty is survived by her three boys; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
