Business Monthly Bio - John Sasser

Name: John Sasser

Business/Job title: Owner of Integrity Design & Copyworks, 214 E. Rose St.

Hometown: Born and raised in Walla Walla.

Favorite memory: "When I was six or seven, we took a family trip to Iceland. My mom is Icelandic. It was summer and we had a private bus. There were aunts and uncles and tons of cousins. We were eating strange foods and I couldn't understand anything they were saying. We even took a boat to the outer islands. It was great fun."

Current favorite song/CD? "I listen to talk radio. However, local artist Gary Winston really brings the house down at our church every Sunday. He can make a guitar actually talk."

Favorite movie: "I like action flicks, comedies and history. My wife and I just watched a series about John Adams that was awesome."

Favorite food: "The perfect steak, which is usually done at home on the barbecue. Pizza is a close second."

Favorite book: As a business owner he said he doesn't have much time for reading. "The life guide for me is the Bible," he said. He also reads trade magazines and product labels. His company produces labels and he's intrigued by the aspects of labels that get rejected or accepted by the government.

Favorite hobby: "Golf. I play as much as time allows. I go with a certain group of guys." He and wife, Cherilyn, also enjoy camping and RV-ing.

Favorite place in Walla Walla County: "Home. Family is so important to me; I work a ton of hours, so it's good to be home."

Most recent local purchase: "Black coffee from Starbucks."

Dream vacation: "What's a vacation? Something tropical, secluded and warm, with my family."

Worst job: "Topping onions, I only lasted two days. Or picking apples, I only lasted one day. I have total respect (for those doing that work). I was a big strapping kid, but it was back breaking."

If you had another career what would it be? Public relations or marketing. There's an aspect of that in his work now.

If you could talk with anyone from any time or place, who would it be and why? "That's easy; it would be Jesus. I would love to be filled with more of His wisdom, face-to-face. Also my grandpa Sasser. He was so full of wisdom. He was such an inspiration. Also my dad. And Ben Franklin." He wishes his father and grandfather could have seen the grandkids and impart their wisdom on the youngsters.
