RICHLAND - DeSales had a couple of medalists at a District 9 golf match at Columbia Point Thursday.
Ryan Baumgart carded at 40 on the par-37, nine-hole round, and Irish teammate Kelly Martin had a 57 to lead the girls.
Tri-Cities Prep scored a 183 to win as a team, followed by DeSales' 193, Dayton/Waitsburg-Prescott 202 and Liberty Christian at 207.
Other scorers for DeSales were Jerod Konen 48, Ben Wolpert 52, and Andrew Hayunga and Ben Miedema tied at 53.
Non-counting for the Irish was usual No. 2 golfer Bryce Scott, who shot a 54.
For Dayton/W-P, Dain Henderson shot a 41, Dakota Baker a 48, Jarron Button 51 and Tim Ihle 62.
Non-counting were Mohannad Owiwi 69 and Kale Sunderland 75.
On the girls side, Dayton won the match at 247, followed by DeSales 257, T-C Prep 259 and Liberty Christian had an incomplete team.
DeSales' scores included Ashton Montgomery 62, Grace Burrows 68, and Alyssa Lyons 70 to go with Martin's 57.
Dayton golfers included Molly Payne 58, Abby Chapman 61, Kyla Ihle 63 and Taylor Brown 65.
"It was blustery," DeSales coach Lon Olson said. "And they'd just plugged and sanded the greens, so it was not pretty golf."
Henderson started the round birdie-birdie-par, Olson said, which was opposite of Baumgart's par-double-bogey-bogey before turning it around.
"Dain and Ryan are starting to play steady golf," Olson said.
Scott's rough round included a shot he took with his 9-iron, which ended up landing behind him in the wind.
"It was a tough day, but it was warm," Olson said.
DeSales headed to Milton-Freewater Municipal for a noon round of 18 against Mac-Hi today.
