Oct. 26, 1951 - April 3, 2011
Reginaldo Ozuna Gonzalez passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 3, 2011, at the age of 59, surrounded by his children at Providence St. Mary Medical Center.
Reginaldo, known to many as Reggie, was born on Oct. 26, 1951, in Los Ramones, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, to Casimiro and Fransisca Gonzalez. Reggie grew up in Orosi, Calif., and graduated from Orosi High School in 1971. He went on to attend a year of junior college for welding and later on completed his machining and welding degree.
Reggie married Enedina Anguiano on Nov. 11, 1973. Shortly after, they had their first son, Reggie Jr., daughters, Diana and Daisy, and later moved to Walla Walla in summer of 1979. Reggie and Enedina opened The Gonzalez Bakery in 1982, had a very successful and joyful family business before they closed their doors in late 1989. In 1984, their daughter Darlene Annie was born. In 1992, Reggie and Enedina made the decision to extend their family by adopting their daughters Delia, Donna and Denise. Reggie's life would seem too short to many. He brought so much joy to our family. Reggie was very family oriented and a great provider. He was always willing to help at the drop of hat. He was a devoted full-time grandfather and a jack-of-all-trades. He enjoyed photography, fishing and hiking the great outdoors. He always believed there was a use for everything and a way to fix it. He loved to be with his family, laugh, listen, tell stories and always lend a listening ear.
Reggie is survived by three brothers, Arturo, Alex and Matthew; five sisters, Narci, Ester, Noelia, Raquel and Irma; one son, Reggie Jr. and six daughters, Diana, Daisy, Darlene, Delia, Donna and Denise and a son-in-law, Ryan; five grandkids, Alex, Maiziah, Noah, Mylee and Reginaldo Max III. Reggie is also survived by his best friend and companion of six years, Joanie.
Viewing and visitation will be held Thursday, April 7, from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. at Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder St., Walla Walla. The funeral service will be held Friday, April 8, at 10 a.m. at the University Seventh-day Adventist Church of College Place with Dennis Rootvik officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in College Place.
