ENTERPRSIE - Weston-McEwen won a 10-inning marathon against Enterprise/Joseph here Tuesday, 5-4.

The TigerScots plated three 10th-inning runs, and watched the Cubs score twice in the bottom of the inning before W-M closed it out.

"We went down with 12 kids, so we were shorthanded," W-M coach Jeff Griggs said. "We played everybody, so that's a big bonus."

Haley Freske went the distance in the circle for the TigerScots, with freshman Danni Derring catching her the entire way. Freske had 16 strikeouts in the game.

The TigerScots almost scored a run in the top of the ninth inning to take the lead, but had a runner thrown out by a step to force the 10th.

In the final frame, Freske singled to center, and Jocelynn Killgore reached on a fielder's choice. Amanda Kuehn then doubled to the left-field fence to score Freske and Killgore. Claire Ely then had her second hit of the day to score Kuehn from second.

The Cubs scored two in the bottom of the 10th, but Derring then threw out an Enterprise/Joseph baserunner attempting to steal second to end the game.

W-M, now 7-3 overall, begins Blue Mountain Conference play hosting a twin bill against Echo at 4 p.m. April 15.
