WALLA WALLA -- Area residents of all ages are invited to participate in a "Zumbathon" Friday at the YMCA to raise money for relief efforts in Japan.

Friday's event will be held at the Walla Walla YMCA, 340 S. Park St., starting at 6 p.m. Zumba instructor Elena Enriquez said the Zumbathon should last about 90 minutes, and is open to the community, including non-YMCA members. The YMCA will provide healthy snacks to participants, and there will be a raffle for prizes. To raise money for Japan earthquake and tsunami relief, there is a suggested donation of at least $8 to participate. All proceeds will go to Japan, through the YMCA in Japan.

Zumba is an energetic workout that mixes dancing with aerobic exercise. Music will be provided by DJ Scorpion for what coordinators say will be a fun and energetic dance party, for a cause.

More information is available online at Walla Walla Zumba with Elena on Facebook, or the YMCA's website at wwymca.org under Events.
