Jan. 11, 1924 - April 4, 2011
Norma L. Anderson of Milton-Freewater passed away April 4, 2011, at the Park Manor Rehabilitation Center in Walla Walla at the age of 87 years. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 10, 2011, at 11 a.m. at the Milton-Freewater Seventh-day Adventist Church with
Pastor Ole Olesen officiating.
Norma Lucille Anderson was born on Jan. 11, 1924, the daughter of Charles Dewey and Blanche Marie (Erwin) Hodson in Los Angeles. She enjoyed a happy childhood with her older brother, Charles, and younger brother, Robert. They enjoyed two weeks camping in Yosemite National Park nearly every year, hiking to the top of Half Dome several times,
up the Ledge Trail to Glacier Point, also to the top of Yosemite Falls and many summer days swimming in the ocean. She graduated from Lynwood Academy in June of 1941, and joined the W.A.V.E.S. in January 1944.
She married Neal Seely, a pilot in the Air Force, in March of 1945. They resided in Los Angeles, raised their three sons, Robert, Mike and John, then in 1962 moved to Pendleton, where Neal had his own Truck
Brake Shop. They moved to Kamiah, Idaho, in 1979 because of Neal's health. Neal bought a small airplane, taught Norma to take off, land and they enjoyed flying over Dworshak Dam and the surrounding area. Much to her regret an end came to their marriage, ending in divorce in 1987. Norma married Robert Anderson in May 1988 and they bought a boat
in which they enjoyed roaming around Dworshak dam and camping on its banks. They then moved to Hendrix, Okla., in 1992. They enjoyed boating on Lake Texoma in Texas and after enjoying the good Southern hospitality, high humidity, tornadoes and fire ants for eight years they returned to the Northwest, buying a home in Milton-Freewater. They both enjoyed trips to the ocean, mountains and the Columbia River
until Robert had a stroke and spent the last four years of his life at Park Manor in Walla Walla, where he died on Jan. 20, 2007. Norma was a member of the Milton Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Norma is survived by her three sons, Robert Seely of Walnut Creek, Calif., Michael Seely of Thailand and John Seely of Milton-Freewater; two granddaughters; four great-grandchildren; three step-sons; six step-
grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Robert Hodson of Plano, Texas. Her parents and older brother, Charles, all preceded her in death.
