PORTLAND - Walla Walla Community College's women's golfers are in second place, and the Warrior men tied for third, after the first round of an NWAACC neutral site tournament at Heron Lakes Golf Course Sunday.
Sunday's round was played on the par-72 Greenback course, with today's round being played on the Great Blue course.
"Both are a great challenge," WWCC coach Mike Rostollan said. "It was a typical Portland day, a little cool to our liking. Cloudbursts drenched the course, but the greens are in good shape. Today should be the same."
Bellevue led the men's field with a team score of 294, followed by Spokane 298, WWCC and Olympic at 299, Green River 307, Columbia Basin 310, Skagit Valley and Southwestern Oregon 321, Treasure Valley 323 and Grays Harbor was incomplete.
Warrior Cory Spencer sits in first place with a 1-under 71.
Walla Walla's Ash Miles was tied with four other golfers in second with even-par 72.
Green River's Jeremy Johnson, Olympic's Neal Bitow, Spokane's Andrew Roller and Bellevue's Alex Mroz also shot 72.
Counting scores for the Warriors were Josh Scothorne 77, and Mike Ervin and Sean Pederson 79. Eric Wright had a non-counting 83.
Walla Walla's Dona Dunovant lead's the women's field with an 80, followed by CBC's Gina Ojeda 81 and Spokane's Alexa Bell and Kelsey Berg tied for third at 83.
Counting scores for WWCC included Jaime Robison at 95 and and Jordan Simkins 98.
Women's team scores included Spokane in first at 257, WWCC at 273, Bellevue 277, Olympic 281, CBC 306, SW Oregon 307, Centralia 316, Treasure Valley 346, and Grays Harbor and Skagit Valley were incomplete.
