Whitman's Zajicek ties for fourth at Richland golf tourney

RICHLAND - Katie Zajicek, one of three first-year golfers playing for Whitman College, shot 81 to pace the Missionaries at the Whitman Invitational Saturday afternoon at Columbia Point Golf Course in Richland.

Zajicek tied for fourth place in the individual scoring while two of her first-year teammates, Catelyn Webber and Elaine Whaley, shot 85 to tie for 11th.

Sophomore Tate Head completed Whitman's 341 team score with a round of 90.

Caitlin Holland also played for the Missionaries, shooting 95.

Whitworth's Emily Guthrie shot 76 for the day's low score. Kelsey Morrison, playing for George Fox, was two strokes back in second place.

George Fox was first in the team scoring with a 322 total. Whitworth was second at 331.

Two players from Pacific University also played. One of Boxers, Valerie Kitamori, tied for sixth place with an 83.

The NWC Women's Golf Championship, a 36-hole tournament, is slated for Columbia Point on April 22-23.
