WALLA WALLA - DeSales topped Dayton in a Southeast 2B baseball sweep here Saturday.
Solid pitching in both games helped push the Irish to 9-3 and 12-1 wins.
"Our pitchers threw pretty good," said DeSales coach Kim Cox.
Victor Mata pitched the first six innings of game one, giving up five hits. He struck out 11 and walked two.
"He really didn't get any run support until the last couple of innings," Cox said.
DeSales held a 4-2 lead until the four-run fifth broke it open at 8-2.
Travis Haen had two hits and two RBI in the win.
Tommy Gregg returned to the Irish field in game two. Gregg had been out for most of the season and played his third game Saturday.
He had a single, double and a three-run homer in the five-inning win.
"It's good to have him back," Cox said.
Logan Hoeft pitched the complete-game effort, striking out 10 Bulldogs in five innings.
The Irish improve to 9-2 on the season. They play La Salle Catholic at 3 p.m. Tuesday and host Touchet immediately following.
The Bulldogs are 2-2 in Southeast District Nine league play.
