WALLA WALLA - For a second straight season, Whitman College senior Elise Otto and sophomore teammate Alyssa Roberg are joining one another on the All-Northwest Conference First Team for women's tennis.
Otto, now a four-time first-team selection, also was named Sportswoman of the Year.
A third Whitman player, sophomore Kate Kunkel-Patterson, received Honorable Mention recognition when the post-season awards, as voted by NWC coaches, were announced earlier today.
Roberg and Otto are two of eight players voted to the All-NWC First Team. Whitworth is the only other team with two players on the first team.
Roberg, who played No. 1 singles for much of the season, was the fourth-leading vote-getter, finishing one spot in front of Otto, who filled the No. 2 singles spot. Otto and Roberg also formed the No. 1 Missionary doubles duo.
Kunkel-Patterson played No. 2 doubles and logged most of her singles matches at the No. 3 and No. 4 spots.
Otto, who has piled up more than 110 victories (singles, doubles) in her four Missionary seasons, rolled to a 13-5 singles record this spring, which includes a 9-2 mark against NWC opponents.
