Pirate golfers win on Saturday


POMEROY - Pomeroy topped St. John-Endicott in a two-team match at the Crystal Springs Golf Course on Saturday.

Pomeroy scored 407 and St. John-Endicott carded a 580, as five players golfed the par-62 course.

Pomeroy's Joel Myers was the medalist, marking a 76.

"We expect Joel to lead us," Pomeroy coach Jim Greene said. "He was pretty consistent with a 36 and 40."

Tanner Feider shot a 79, going 40 on the front nine and 39 on the back in cool, windy conditions.

"He shot his best round of the season," Greene said of Feider.

Other Pomeroy finishers were Riley Bott's 87, Austin Starin at 82 and Tyson Feider with 83.

Wyatt Hyer had a non-counting 107.

St. John-Endicott's Dakota White had the highest mark, with a 95. Mason Howell had 100, John Quinton 101, Alex McCue 139 and R.J. Bartierra carded a 145.

Two girls also golfed for St. John-Endicott. Erin Bailey had a 122 and Felicity Mapes had 149.

St.John-Endicott also brought two girls competitors. Scoring for the girls were Erin Bailey with a 122 and Felicity Mapes with a 149.

Pomeroy travels to Richland's Columbia Point for a District Nine match at 2 p.m. Tuesday.
