Tekoa-Oakesdale-Rosalia

sweeps W-P in SE2B play

PRESCOTT - The Waitsburg-Prescott baseball team was swept by Tekoa-Oakesdale-Rosalia in a Southeast 2B doubleheader Satruday.

W-P lost 13-2 and 6-2, notching just five hits to T-O-R's 20-hit attack.

We left a few guys on base and couldn't get the key hits. They made some plays on hard hit balls too. Defensively, we just couldn't get the third out in the inning in time. We couldn't get in a groove all afternoon."

The pair of losses drops W-P to 0-5 in league and 5-5 overall.

Mac-Hi gives up nine errors,

two wins to Ontario

ONTARIO - You can't give good teams extra outs.

Mac-Hi gave Ontario nine extra outs thanks to nine errors on the day and Ontario took advantage to sweep a Greater Oregon League doubleheader here Saturday.

The Tigers took the opener, 13-3, and fought off a Pioneer comeback to complete the sweep with a 14-11 win in the second game.

The Pioneers fought back to narrow the Tiger lead to 6-3 heading to the home sixth of the opener. Two Mac-Hi miscues led to seven sixth-inning Ontario runs as the Tigers put game one away.

Mac-Hi went down 10-1 after three in the night cap, but errors cost the Pioneers three unearned runs in a four-run Tiger third.

The Pioneers fought back to load the bases in both the fourth and fifth but could only push across four runs in the fourth.

"We had a break down on defense in the third with three unearned runs," Garcia said. "Nine errors is uncharacteristic of us. If we're going to win tough GOL games, we can't give teams more than three outs. We have to keep our focus on what we have to do."

The Pioneers return to the road for a GOL double dip at La Grande Friday.
