Members of the Council are Eric Pickard, LaVerne Mitchell, John Shafer, Deborah Hayward and Carol Speed. Mayor is Charles Vickery. With all present Thursday:
- WATER SYSTEM: Heard description of proposed water system improvements by Brad Baird of Anderson Perry amp; Associates.
- PLANNING COMMISSION: Learned 20 people attended public information meeting on 2012 repaving of Main Street.
- GAMES: Approved request from Caledonian Games organizers to use city facilities July 8-10. Unanimous.
- COURT: Discussed potential consolidation of Municipal Court with the city of Weston. The city will offer a contract to Jim Barrows of Pendleton. Vote was 4 in favor with Hayward abstaining due to conflict of interest.
- COMMUNITY ROOM: Approved reservation form for the community room. A $25 deposit is refunded if the room is left in good condition.
- GRANT: Learned Fire Chief John Wright was award a $10,000 AWERE grant for equipment.
- CREEK: Approved Public Works Director Ken Faircloth to apply for creek restoration grant. Unanimous.
- UPCOMING DATES: Earth Day will be observed Friday from 1-2 p.m. with bus tours of the city's new wetland area. City Clean-up Day is May 7. The next Council meeting is May 19. There is a citywide yard sale May 21. A city Block Party is scheduled all day June 11 with games and entertainment.
- BUDGET: Elected City Clerk Dyann Swanson as budget officer and approved budget calendar with amendments. Vickery appointed Cale King, Gene Wright and Alan Hudson to the budget committee. Unanimous.
- LICENSE: Accepted application for business license by Benjamin Carmichael, owner of Clean Cutt Landscaping, 305 E. Lincoln St. Unanimous.
- MAP: Approved new city map, showing tax lots, flood plains and addresses. Unanimous.
