SELAH, Wash. - Freshman Katie Martell hit safely in all five games and sophomore Alexis Bobadilla slugged three home runs here over the weekend as Walla Walla posted a 2-3 record in an NWAACC crossover softball tournament hosted by Yakima Valley.

The Warriors saw their season record slip to 21-8-1 during the three days of play that began Friday. They take an 11-3 Eastern Division record into a pair of home doubleheaders this weekend. Walla Walla hosts Wenatchee Friday at 4 p.m. and Yakima Saturday at noon.

Walla Walla opened play here Friday by dropping a 4-3 decision to the host Yaks and then lost their first game Saturday to Everett by a 7-1 count. The Warriors rebounded to defeat Clackamas 5-4 later Saturday, opened Sunday's competition with a 17-7 rout of Olympic and then finished on a down note as Mount Hood took a 6-1 victory.

Martell had seven hits during the tournament, including a pair of doubles. Bobadilla had six hits overall, including one home run in the victory over Clackmas and a pair of homers in the victory over Olympic.

Walla Walla broke out for 19 hits against the Rangers. Freshmen Sami Verity and Alicia Baker also homered in that game, and freshman Kayla Winston led the way with a four-hit game that included a pair of doubles.

Winston and Verity finished the tournament with five hits each. Baker, Dara Kosanke, Mercedes Pearson and Jill McDaniels each hit safely three times over the three days.

Kosanke pitched the Warriors to their one-run victory over Clackamas, checking the Cougars on seven hits and striking out four over seven innings of work.

Bobadilla pitched a six-inning complete game against Olympic, scattered 13 hits and struck out three.
