ASOTIN - Ryan Baumgart carded a 78 to pace the DeSales boys golf team to another District 9 win at Quail Ridge Tuesday.
DeSales' girls placed second with a 225 on the par-71 course.
The boys had a team score of 349 in the win. Asotin had a 354 and Dayton's team was incomplete.
It was Baumgart's third 78 in a row on three different courses. He beat Asotin's No. 1 golfer by a single stroke.
"This was the first time for all of these kids at Quail Ridge," said DeSales coach Lon Olson. "We haven't been there for three years, and these kids are all freshmen, sophomores and juniors."
Bryce Scott carded an 85 for third place and Jerod Konen had a 90 to tie for fourth. Ben Wolpert had a 96. Andrew Hayunga had a non-counting 110 and Ben Miedema had a 119.
Waitsburg-Prescott's Dakota Baker had a 90 to tie with Konen for fourth, and Dayton's Dain Henderson had a 93 and Tim Ihle had a 134.
The top two girls from each school were counted. Asotin won with a 220, DeSales had a 225 and Dayton carded a 242.
Asotin's Mikalya Christiansen had a 108 for medalist.
In DeSales' results, Ashton Montgomery had a 110, Alyssa Lyons had a 115 and Kelly Martin had a noncounting 127.
Dayton's Molly Payne carded a 116 and Taylor Brown had a 126.
Although the weather looked ugly before the 1 p.m. tee time, the sun emerged from threatening clouds on the course, which sits on the fingers of the Blue Mountains, Olson said.
"For the most part it was a very enjoyable day," he said.
And it was good preparation for the boys, who play Thursday in a District 9 Invite at Columbia Point in Richland.
"It gives us a good idea of what we're looking at down the road," Olson said.
The girls play again next week.
